Disney Destiny

The Disney Destiny is the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line family. This ship kicked off its “Heroes & Villains” themed inaugural voyages on November 20, 2025, departing from Fort Lauderdale for 4-5 night cruises to the beautiful Bahamas and Caribbean. With Hero Minnie adorning the bow and Spider-Man at the stern, the ship promises a magical experience for guests of all ages.

As part of the Tritan class, alongside its sister ships the Wish and Treasure, the Disney Destiny can accommodate up to 4,000 guests and features a dedicated crew of 1,555. Onboard, you’ll find immersive dining options, including the 1923 restaurant and Marvel dining rooms, the immersive kids’ area is sure to delight with a fun slide,  and poolside fun on the exciting aqua mouse water ride. The popular Mickey’s Festival of Food’s poolside food options is always hoping offering classic pizza, hamburgers, soft serve ice crea, Mickey’s BBQ, and Donald’s Cantina. The ship’s unique design includes only two elevator hubs, allowing for a vibrant storytelling stage at its heart.

Highlights of the Disney Destiny include the new Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King restaurant, an exciting show featuring Hercules, and adult-only experiences like De Vil’s lounge and family lounges The Sanctum and Saga. You can satisfy your sweet tooth at Edna A La Mode Sweet Shop!

The Disney Destiny sails out of terminal 4 which has gotten a lovely facelift since our last sailing on the Dream. It now feels magical and seemless like Port Canaveral. As always, you arrive at your selected port arrival time and they will let you on the ship by boarding group. Checking in was quick and easy. We didn't begin boarding until 11. Afte r the family of the day boarded, conceirge made their way on, followed by group 2 (Pearl I assume), group 3 (Disney arranged transfer/hotel packages), group 4, and so on. We had a group 4 boarding and were on the boat by 11:40.

Disney Destiny Port

We always enjoyed sailing out of Port Canaveral near Orlando, but Fort Lauderdale port has won us over! The port is just 10 minutes from the FLL airport making for quick, easy, and affordable transfers from anywhere you live. There were lots of hotel options around the port, most with many restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

Disney Destiny Attrium

It is always exciting walking onto a Disney ship, having them call your family name announcing your arrival, and having a character greet you from the balcony.  We didnt’ really stop to look atthe attrium as it becomes a major traffic hub until the ship sets sail. But let me describe it from our time we spent here throughout our voyage.

The Disney Destiny’s atrium, called the Grand Hall, is three-story and themed after Marvel’s Black Panther and Wakanda, featuring gold, black, and jewel tones with Wakandan-inspired metalwork on pillars and a unique Vibranium-like chandelier. The statue on this ship is of King T’Challa (Black Panther) at the base of the grand staircase. The space becomes a “living theater” with lights and projections for character interactions.

My personal opinion, I was underwhelmed. Compared to the beautiful decorations in Treasure or even the Wish, this space was rather simplistic. What’s more the theme carries into the halls and even the SAGA lounge making for some drab spaces.

Disney Destiny Cruise Line Hercules Room 6554

Disney Destiny Staterooms

The staterooms are identical to the other Titan class ships except for the artwork above the bed, and the matching themes in the hallway carpet, door post, and lights.  Each room brings to life the heroic stories from your favorite films like Hercules, Mulan, Brave, Raya and the Last Dragon, Big Hero 6, and The Incredibles.

Like other Disney ships the spaces are large compared to cruise standards with the iconic split bath that makes traveling even with large groups much easier. The beds are comfy, with plush pillows and bedding. Like other Titan class ships, I found the storage space to be lacking – especially when it comes to drawers.

de vil lounge on Disney destiny cruise ship

Disney Destiny Lounges

When going on a new-to-us ship my favorite thing is exploring the new spaces! The Destiny has plenty to explore!

De Vil’s

Experience the lavish lounge, De Vil’s, inspired by the iconic Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians. With a stunning red, black, and white color palette, this chic piano lounge combines Hollywood Regency design with live music. Enjoy the entertainment of a fabulous spotted grand piano and watch for a special appearance by Cruella herself. Join in the fun with “Treble Making with Cruella,” where she rewrites her classic song to celebrate her fabulousness. Savor designer drinks inspired by Disney characters, and don’t forget to dress to impress as you honor Cruella’s classic legacy!

This adult-only lounge, the live music, and experiences with Cruella are all on point and fabulous! The only problem, the lounge is small. I think it had a capacity for 25, although they would pack 40-50 in for the Cruella experience. So getting in can be tricky and will require getting in line to make the cut. This was one of our favorite experiences from our cruise.  Perfectly wretched!

Discover the Sanctum, the Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever lounge inspired by Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange! Located at the heart of the ship, this unique space is a hub for family-friendly entertainment. During the day, enjoy activities like Disney trivia, crafts, and more. As night falls, let loose with live music from The Mystics. Plus, indulge in some cleverly themed drinks and a delicious inside-out waffle throughout the day.

While we aren’t huge fans of Doctor Strange in our household, I could appreciate they had some put lots of thought into this space. There were clever, subtle nods to the franchise and a comfy atmosphere for hanging out. However, I personally found the live music to be a bit underwhelming. On this particular ship, the schedule for family activities seemed lighter compared to other Tritan ships, where we usually enjoyed a bustling array of trivia, drawing sessions, and more. It was a bit challenging to find the same level of engagement here.

Cask and Cannon

Ahoy, mateys! Step into Cask & Cannon, a pirate’s pub inspired by Disney Parks, filled with eclectic treasures from legendary adventures. Enjoy a wide selection of rare rums and “bootlegged” brews in a casual setting, perfect for hangouts or catching live sports. Keep an eye out for fun nods to the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions, like charming lanterns and intricate carvings that reference classic scenes. Look up to spot a whimsical Caribbean map and down for Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass in the carpet!

This adult-only space is perfect for enjoying a drink or watching sports away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the ship. Unfortunately, for our crew, we didn’t make use of this cleverly themed space.

The Haunted Mansion Parlor

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Destiny! Immerse yourself in the eerie atmosphere of a mysterious sea captain’s parlor and discover the haunting tale of his bride, brought to life by enchanted objects guided by Madame Leota. This fan-favorite experience, first introduced on the Disney Treasure, features a chilling selection of exclusive beverages, including new mocktails and cocktails. Experience design elements inspired by beloved Disney Parks attractions, like mansion wallpaper and the clock striking 13, along with a unique ghostly fish tank filled with skeletal fish.

This popular spot lives up to the hype! Not only is the space well decorated, but the 40 minute show  tells a story while taking you through various elements you will recognize from the iconic ride it was designed after. You will see portraits change before yoru eyes, a ghost fish, appearances in the mirror over the bar of the hitchhiking ghosts, and others. When the clock strikes, a new element of the room will look alive. You may have to wait for space to open up, but it is totally worth it and not to long if you line up before it opens or go here later in the cruise.

saga lounge on disney destiny

Saga

Saga is the lively hub of the Disney Destiny, spanning Decks 4 and 5. This two-story venue offers fun for families during the day with interactive games, trivia, crafts, BINGO, and special events like Villains Game Night and an immersive encounter with Maleficent. As night falls, Saga becomes an adults-only space featuring activities like Silent Disco, themed trivia, and live performances, including the clever Marvel-themed show With Great Power.  Overall, Saga is a central gathering place for both family fun and evening entertainment on the ship.

We were really disappointed with the theming of the space on the Destiny. It seemed dull and uninviting. The addition of the bars on the second story, likely for safety reasons, made it feel more like a cage than an enjoyable area. Overall, it just didn’t meet our expectations.

Disney Destiny Dining

Disney rotates guests between three different dining rooms, your Navigator Ap will tell you where to go each night, the time, and your table number. Don’t worry, your wait staff will move from place to place with you! This is the first Disney ship we were on that had the dessert menu in the main menu; you order it at the same time as you order your food now. I will dive more into the menu in another post, but here is what to expect on the destiny:

Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King

Step into the Pride Lands and immerse yourself in a dining experience where storytelling and live performances bring the magic of “The Lion King” to life. Indulge in delicious African-inspired dishes as you enjoy captivating percussion, stunning vocal performances, and energetic dance routines featuring beloved songs like “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

As you dine, take note of the charming details around you. Character-inspired table décor and art showcasing iconic scenes from the film create a truly immersive atmosphere. The glowing windows that line the dining room evoke the feeling of the African savanna, with silhouettes of elephants and giraffes gently roaming past.

While we were eagerly anticipating this restaurant, we found it a bit lacking. We had high hopes for an experience similar to Boma, Donald’s Tusker House, or the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately, the food felt average and uninspired, the atmosphere resembled a crowded cafeteria, and the performances included only a few drums and vocalists. The attire worn by the performers didn’t match the vibrant concept art we had envisioned.   We wanted to love it but ended up feeling underwhelmed. Here’s hoping for improvements in the future!

1923 restaurant on disney destiny ship - Copy

1923

1923 is a sophisticated dining experience aboard the Disney ship, beautifully honoring Walt and Roy O. Disney, as well as the enchanting golden age of animation. Named after the year The Walt Disney Company was established, this restaurant features two distinctive dining rooms: the Roy Disney room and the Walt Disney room, where guests are seated for their meal. The menu highlights California cuisine, making it the perfect spot for a delicious Filet Mignon dinner.

As you dine, you’ll be surrounded by an impressive collection of 1,000 Disney artifacts and animation pieces, showcasing beloved classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, and Frozen II.

While 1923 has its charm, I find myself missing the grand Royal Court dining experience offered on older ships. It felt more elegant and memorable. Depending on where you’re seated, your experience can vary significantly; our table was tucked away in a corner with little to admire other than a wall. Additionally, this is the third restaurant of its kind, and I believe there was an opportunity for more creativity in designing something unique. The shortened menu on shorter cruises unfortunately means the absence of some of our favorite dishes from elegant dining, like escargot, deep-fried brie, and crème brûlée. It just felt like Disney is copy pasting from ship to ship.

disney treasure marvel dining 2nd show groot trivia

Worlds of Marvel

Avengers, assemble! At Worlds of Marvel, we invite you to embark on an unforgettable dining adventure. Experience a lively trivia show featuring Rocket and Baby Groot, displayed on screens throughout the restaurant. Each table comes equipped with a Quantum Core, empowering you to answer Marvel-related trivia while enjoying lighthearted fun with your companions. The diverse menu is inspired by the rich cultures of Wakanda, Sokovia, and New York City.

Personally, I feel it’s time for a change. This restaurant is identical across all the Tritan ships. And the destiny features the shorter trivia show only. The Wish offers a spectacle featuring Ant-Man and a special appearance by Spider-Man and the Treasure offers both the hilarious Ant-Man show AND the Groot Trivia event.  Plus the menu, which was always a little odd and never our favorites, remains unchanged. I think copying the same restaurant (s) for three ships is just too many repeats for those paying for a Disney cruise that are looking for new and different.

Marceline Market

Once again the buffet is the Marceline Market. Discover Marceline Market aboard the Wish, inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown. This cozy buffet on deck 11 offers a range of breakfast and lunch options. Breakfast is served from 7am to 10:30am, featuring favorites like eggs benedict, pancakes, and made-to-order omelets. For lunch, enjoy a rotating menu from 12pm to 2pm with offerings like charcuterie boards, mashed potatoes, salads, a carved meat, and fresh fruit. They don’t serve dinner, you will need to go to our assigned dinner rotation or visit Mickey’s Festival of Food pool side.

While the first launch of this area was a welcome refresh, I feel like I am done with the pods where I can’t get my own food and the lackluster menu that rarely changes or offers anything unique. Disney cruise line’s buffet really pales in comparison with it’s competitor Royal Caribbean in this regard.

Festival of Foods

The Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods is an incredible new experience that began on the Wish ad has continued through all the Tritan ships! This is one repeat I am on board with 100%! Guests rave about the wide array of delicious food options, all presented with a cute Fab 5 flair!

  • At Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, indulge in BBQ favorites like smoked brisket and pulled pork, paired with sides like mac and cheese and cornbread.
  • Donald’s Cantina is a fan favorite, offering customizable tacos, burritos, and bowls with a variety of proteins and over 9 salsas to choose from.
  • Daisy’s Pizza Pies satisfies pizza cravings with options from margarita to plant-based sausage. Note: After 9pm the pizza and ice cream will be your only options.
  • Goofy’s Grill serves classic American fare by the pool, featuring burgers and hot dogs, although dessert options are limited.
  • Don’t miss Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream, offering soft serve and various flavors daily. Perfect for a sweet treat, but note the hours. Enjoy your culinary adventure!

Edna À La Mode Sweets

Satisfy your sweet tooth and indulge in something extraordinary at Edna À La Mode Sweets, the first-ever Incredibles-themed sweet shop at sea! This delightful spot is a true treasure for dessert lovers. The treats do cost extra, but are the only way to get dessert other than in the dining room or the soft serve option.

Step into Edna’s lab, now transformed into a magical sweet-making workshop where Jack-Jack’s playful spirit infuses every treat. Here, you’ll find mouthwatering gelato, scrumptious cupcakes, delectable candies, and so much more. Don’t forget to capture a moment with the charming sculpture of Edna and Jack-Jack as they whip up their cookie masterpieces! Our favorite was the Sundae where you pick 3 ice cream flavors and 5 toppings for the cutest and tastiest dessert you can imagine!

Café Megara and Café Merida

The two new themed walk-up cafes on the Destiny are inspired by Merida and Hercules. You will find them on decks 4 and 5 right off the Grand Hall, bringing the magic of Pixar and Disney to your morning routine and snack time.

Café Megara, inspired by “Hercules,” offers a vibrant atmosphere with color palettes and fabrics that whisk you away to Mount Olympus. We found this one to be particularly well-themed!

Café Merida captures the spirit of Scotland with charming nods to “Brave.” Here, you can enjoy foamy lattes, a selection of teas, fresh juices, and light bites.

While we miss the dessert case from the older ships, the Tritan ships provide fantastic new spots to grab your daily coffee. Other guests seem to agree, as the lines suggest! One delightful touch is seeing your favorite Disney character artfully crafted atop your coffee. Don’t hesitate to ask for your special character; you might just get a fun surprise!

Disney Destiny Entertainment

There is no doubt that most people head on a Disney cruise ready to be entertained by the company that constantly WOWs accross it’s parks and ships! The Destiny has some returning favorites and new options for guests to enjoy.

Trivia, Drawing Classes, and Gameshows

Like other Disney ships, you can find various trivia competitions, drawing classes, and family game shows speckled throughout the day. There are no new offerings, but familar ones like the Mousekateers, Villain Game Night, and others.  Personally, we found the schedule and offerings more limited on this ship. Things were not as plentiful as the other Tritan ships and were offered at odd times that made it impossible to do serveral of them. Unlike most cruises, we found time when were were gasp bored. Don’t get me wrong, there is always a movie playing somewhere, but it was surprising and more a cruise director issue than a ship issue.

I am still not a fan of the glitchy Uncharted Seas scavenger Hunt on the Tritan class ships that requires a cell phone to play. However, the new Happy Haunts hunt is so fun! All you need is a Magic Band+ so even kids can play. You iteract with mirrors, paintings, and objects to catch the escaped ghosts and bring them back. SO FUN! It reminds me of the Pirate League Hunt at Disney World.

Pools and AquaMouse

We’re excited to share that the same tiered pools available on Titan ships can be found here too! These pools make it so much easier for everyone to enjoy the stage performances without feeling like you’re all packed in together on one level. During our trip, we noticed the pools weren’t very crowded, which was a nice surprise. However, we do miss having a family hot tub, and we still find it odd that the pools don’t open until at least 9 AM.

Families will love the Toy Story Splash area located just behind the funnel, featuring a fun Rex yellow slide. And don’t forget to explore the hidden Chip and Dale pool tucked away at the back of the ship!

One of the highlights is definitely the AquaMouse, which introduced an exciting new adventure called Sing a Silly Song! Join Mickey and Minnie as you navigate through tunnels, twists, and thrilling drops while encountering some of Disney’s playful villains. Unfortunately, we missed our chance to ride it, as the showtimes aren’t available in advance—you just have to go with the flow. Pro tip: if you go on a port day, the lines are usually much shorter! We managed to ride six times in a row without having to get off!

Deck Parties

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime at the Sail Away Party on the Disney Destiny! This is where your vacation truly kicks off, packed with excitement and a heroic twist. You’ll be dancing to classics like the “Cupid Shuffle” when suddenly, the fun is interrupted by a surprise. But fear not! Spider-Man swings in to save the day, bringing the energy to a whole new level. For the best experience, arrive early to snag a great spot near the deck stage, or head up to the upper decks for a fantastic view of all the action below.

And don’t miss out on Pirates Night, where the deck comes alive with thrilling entertainment! Join Mickey’s pirate crew as you take on Captain Hook and Mr. Smee in an unforgettable face-off. Later in the evening, get ready for a spectacular fireworks display at sea—a signature Disney Cruise event! While we do miss the extended show from the older ships, where Mickey zip-lined to the stage and we enjoyed a fun video of the crew in a bind, the current show remains a favorite among guests.

To truly immerse yourself in the fun, bring a pirate costume to join in the festivities. Don’t worry if you forget—each stateroom includes a complimentary pirate bandana to get you started on your swashbuckling adventure!

Disney Storrytelling and Villain Experiences

Experience the magic of storytelling like never before on the Destiny! Join the playful duo of Zayah and Gamble, the traveling storytellers you never knew you needed. Zayah brings along an ancient book of fates, while Gamble reveals a trunk filled with enchanting potions and interactive surprises. Get ready for a whirlwind of fun as you engage in riddles, mini-challenges, and spontaneous adventures that vary with each appearance.

This dynamic pair can primarily be found in the Grand Hall, and they’ll also make a splash in the De Vil lounge during the Cruella experience designed for adults. Be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for their specific performance times. Their captivating tales feature beloved characters like Loki, Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, and of course, the fabulous Cruella in her runway fashion show!

Dress up in your favorite costume to take part in Cruella’s hilarious fashion show, and don’t miss additional meet-and-greets with Maleficent, who will share her charms, and Dr. Facilier in a secret parlor showcasing his mesmerizing sleight-of-hand tricks.

Traditional Character Interactions

Like all Disney cruises, there is the opportunity to meet your favorite friends. Look in your cruiseline ap for time and locations, generally around deck 3, 4, and 5 of the grand hall. For popular characters I suggest arriving 15-30 minutes early. The line will not close until it officially opens, but may close very quickly after if it is long.

The characters you can see are:

  • Goofy,  Chip and Dale,  Pluto,  Mickey,  Minnie (and super hero Minnie), Daisy duck, Donald, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Moana, Princess Tiana, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Belle, Captain Jack sparrow, Mirabel and Bruno, Chewbacca and Ray
  • Cruella, Doctor Facilier, Loki, Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Mr. Smee

Disney Movies

Looking for something to watch on your cruise? You’re in luck! There’s always a great selection available. Enjoy free movies on demand right in your stateroom or catch the latest films on our outdoor giant screen. With two onboard theaters featuring current releases, you can binge-watch to your heart’s content. Plus, if a Disney movie premieres during your trip, you can enjoy it at no charge! Don’t forget to grab some popcorn and snacks for an authentic movie experience. Check your app for showtimes and movie options

Disney Live Entertainment

Besides the movies, game shows, BINGO,  trivia, character interaction, and films – you will find live entertainment onboard. In the evening you can stroll the ship to find music in the various lounges from piano favorites in De Vil’s to Victrophonics in the Grand Hall, and many more. All live musicians perform with various live instruments, but you won’t find a big orchestra or band like on Royal Caribbean ships.

One of our favorite things about a Disney cruise is watching the big theatre productions! We were truly floored by the talent of performers on this ship and the next-level special effects  they use!

Hercules

The amazing new “Disney Hercules” stage show on the Disney Destiny cruise ship is an absolute delight! This modern retelling of Hercules’ journey from zero to hero, along with his unforgettable romance with Meg, is simply enchanting.

The Muses are a standout highlight, delivering powerful, gospel-inspired songs and dynamic dance routines that energize the entire production. The Hydra puppet is a showstopper, and combined with dazzling costumes and impressive set designs, the talent on stage will have you singing along and dancing in your seat. From “I Can Go the Distance” to the cast’s final bow, the audience couldn’t help but stand and cheer for an encore that felt never-ending—it’s that spectacular.

If you plan to catch the show, be sure to arrive at least an hour early to secure a great seat in the main section. This way, you can fully enjoy all the sights, sounds, and special effects right in the heart of the action. Seats fill up fast, and remember, Concierge guests often get to claim their spots first! Doors open 20 minutes before showtime for everyone else. Don’t miss out on this incredible experience!

Frozen

While this show is not new to Disney cruises, it is an absolute delight and the performers on this ship are the best I’ve ever seen anywhere. I had goose bumps the entire time! You can also catch this delightful show on Disney Wonder and the Disney Fantasy.

Frozen, a Musical Spectacular” is a captivating production directed by Tony Award-nominated Sheryl Kaller. The creative team includes award-winning talents such as costume designer Paloma Young and choreographer Josh Prince. With a talented cast and dynamic puppetry by Michael Curry, known for his work in “The Lion King,” the show brings characters like Sven and Olaf to life. The music, featuring beloved songs from the “Frozen” film by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, is adapted into this magical stage experience by four-time Tony nominee Chad Beguelin. Don’t miss this enchanting musical event!

Disney Seas the Adventure

Get ready to set sail on an unforgettable adventure with “Disney Seas the Adventure,” an exciting original show aboard the brand-new Disney Destiny cruise ship! Join Goofy as he partners with Captain Minnie to navigate a vibrant musical journey through beloved Disney and Pixar tales. Sing and dance along with fan-favorites like Moana, Elsa, and the lively friends from Finding Nemo as they celebrate the themes of self-discovery and teamwork. This lively welcome show features impressive puppetry, dazzling special effects, and lots of audience interaction, making it a wonderful experience for families.

I love these shows that combine lots of my favorite Disney songs with mesmerizing choreography and vibrant costuming! This is a short 30 minute show that is a great way to introduce kids to live theatre!

Disney Kids Clubs

One thing that sets Disney apart is the immersive clubs for kids! From nursery, to Oceaneers Club, Edge, and Vibe – kids will have a blast. Disney offers planned activities and fun spaces for children to play all day long from 9am until midnight. The councelors are all amazing and your kids won’t want to leave! Like other Tritan ships, there is a slide for kids to enter the kids spaces from deck 3 in the Grand Hall – this time it has been upgraded to a fun Wreck it Ralph theme! The inside areas of Marvel, Star Wars, Lab, Roller Coaster Studio, FairyTale Hall are all identical to the other Tritan Ships: Treasure, Destiny, and Wish.

Disney Destiny Summary

There is a lot to love about the new Disney cruise ship – from the stageshow Hercules to villain encounters, storyteling with Zayah and Gamble and new spaces to explore! With all that said, we were dissapointed by the new dining room, scheduling of activities onboard, and underwhelming theming of the Grand Hall and other hallways.  Guests continue to complain about not having elevators in the middle of the ship as well.

My personal opinion, if you are looking to experience the Tritan class ships, I suggest trying the Treasure for a 7 day adventure or the Wish for shorter cruises.
