tours to amalfi coast from rome

There are several options to visit the Amalfi Coast from Rome. You can get to cities along the Amalfic coast by car, budget-friendly buses, and ferry. If you’re coming from a major city like Rome, you can take a train to Naples, Sorrento or Salerno and then transfer to a bus or ferry to reach the Amalfi Coast.

  • I like the convenience of doing a Tours to Amalfi Coast from Rome which takes care of the transportation, and trust me the windy, narrow drive is insane so you want someone driving you there! It is 3 1/2 hours drive each way to get to the coast, so it is not a cheap trip.
  • Take a high speed train from Rome to Naples, which takes 1 hr 10 minutes and costs $15-77. Then take a less expensive tour to Amalfi Coast from Naples. This would work if you found a good flight to fly into Naples from overseas, take the tour and then take the train to arrive in Rome. This option is still cheaper than the tour directly from Rome, but it invovles more steps on your part.
  • To maximize our time in Italy and see even more we decided to see Pompeii and the Amalfi coast in one day with this tour. I’m so glad we took advantage of seeing them both in one day. It’s a long day, but doable. It also was basically the same cost to do both as to do one so this was a better value.

To be honest I could have spent days in the Amalfi Coast alone – it’s so beautiful! But we only had so much PTO and money for out trip so this allowed us to do it all. Positano is a charming Italian city on the Amalfi Coast in Italy with dramatic views of the Mediterranean Sea

Some of the cities that are considered part of the Amalfi Coast include Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, and Sorrento. Each of these cities offers its own unique charm and attractions, from the pastel-hued buildings of Positano to the historic cathedral in Amalfi and the lush gardens of Ravello.

If you are afraid of heights, don’t look down! If you get motion sickness, I suggets taking Dramamine or Bonine before you begin the drive.

the view is truly spectactular but expect a lot of uphill and downhill walking

When you get there they will orient you and then let you explore on your own with a scheduled meet time for the return. Our main stop was the town of Potsiano. As the village is perched on the side of a cliff, there is a lot of inclined walking up and down. The view though is truly spectactular everywhere you turn.

the limoncello is a must

The frozen limoncello is a must! Not only is it absolutely delicious and a regional specialty, but it will re-energize you for all the walking!

So what’s there to do in Potsiano? You wander through the charming streets lined with tourists, shops, cafes and beauty. We visited in late May and it was perfect. the charming homes were all adorned with beautiful flowers

We enjoyed some local pastries both sweet and savory from a local cafe and wandered up and down streets. The hikes were rewarded with beautiful vistas no matter which way you turned. We left tired, but so happy we went and got to enjoy this little slice of heaven, even if it was just for several hours. For those wondering, there are no public toilets, but local cafes will allow you to use your restroom.
