Looking for a family adventure that you’ll never forget? Look no further than Argentina! Getting to Argentina is quite easy, with major airlines offering direct flights from many major cities around the world. The main airports to fly into are in Buenos Aires, including Ezeiza International Airport and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery. Once you arrive, you’ll find that Spanish is the official language spoken in Argentina. If you’re not fluent, don’t worry! Many people in tourist areas and big cities speak English, and you can always rely on translation apps to help you communicate.  The official currency in Argentina is the Argentine Peso. It’s a good idea to have some cash on hand for smaller purchases, as credit cards may not be accepted everywhere. ATMs are widely available in urban areas. You probably can’t get currency until you are in country as the Argentina peso is generally week and fluctuates widely so must foreign banks don’t keep the notes on hand.  In terms of safety, Argentina is generally a safe country to visit. Just like any other destination, it’s always wise to take precautions and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas and tourist spots.  When it comes to must-see attractions, Argentina has so much to offer! We didn’t have a lot of expectations when visiting except that we were excited to see penguins on our Antarctica cruise. I was blown away by the rich history, beautiful scenery, charming wildlife, and warm culture. I loved Argentina and would happily visit again! They really have a lot to offer and it is so easy, and pretty inexpensive to visit. I highly recommend a family vacation to Argentina!

Looking to experience the best of Argentina in just 7 days? Here’s a suggested itinerary to make the most of your trip:

  • Day 1-2: Start your adventure in Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital city. The first day explore the capital city with historic neighborhoods like La Boca, San Telmo and Recoleta. End the evening with a Tango performance. The second day head out to visit a local estancia, sheep ranch for a taste of country living.
  • Day 3:  Bariloche, a picturesque town situated in the Patagonian Andes. Explore the Nahuel Huapi National Park and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking.
  • Day 4-5: Puerto Madryn – You will need 2 days to visit all the local wildlife including penguin rookery in Punto Tombo, elephant seals / sea lions / Orcas in Peninsula Valdes, and even snorkeling with sea lions
  • Day 6: Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Visit Tierra del Fuego National Park and take a boat tour to see penguins and sea lions.
  • Day 7: Head to Iguazu Falls, one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in the world. Spend the day walking along the trails and admiring the cascading waterfalls.
  • Optional: I highly recommend visiting the  ‘nearby’ Falkland Islands to see the amazing king and gentoo penguins in this lovely setting

If you have time, there are some other amazing things to see in the bottom area of South America. I highly recommend strolling on the beach with the Gentoo and King Penguins in the Falkland Islands.  I also highly recommend taking an extra day to cruise the Patagonian fjords – WOW!
